Replacement blades for Ridgid TP1300 planer

Has anyone found a supply of replacements blades for this planer? I'm thinking about purchasing it but have read that replacement blades can't be found.

If you buy a new one, there should be an extra set under the out feed table.

      Morning Dwayne...

Unless Rigid has changed the design, it should be the same as any other 13" planer blade (Delta.. etc.). This is true on larger jointers and planers also for the most part. The blades and jack insert holes are pretty much universal so any blade will do ya.

BTW.... again.. unless Rigid has changed the design of that planer, it's about as good as any 13" "lunch-box" planer out there. I almost bought it instead of a Delta 22-580 which I just sold to bthere to up-grade to 20".

      Regards...

I got a set at HD, I guess I never heard they were hard to find. You can also slide them to opposite sides a little when you reseat them if you get a nick, and they are gound on both edges so they are reversible.

I bought them at HD. they are non-adjustable, disposable knives. they are double sided so you get the equivelent 4 sets of knives with the planer.

I had read one of the reviews on homedepot.com that stated:

"I can report that you won't find them at your local Home Depot (I've tried three HD's, and they ALL said "We don't carry the Ridgid knives" ...as they helpfully suggest the Brand "D" knife set hanging high on a wall). You won't find them online at Home Depot either.

This gets worse: they don't have any sets at Ridgid either. Umm, in case you didn't notice, Ridgid is the company that makes the TP1300 ...and they don't have knife sets on their website. That's ...sad. Just sad."

            That's the reason I inquired!

I've seen them as recently as yesterday at my local Home Depot.

You can't buy them online, but you can buy them from RidgidParts over the phone at 1-866-539-1710.. The part number is AC8630.

Thanks for the information. I think I'm going to purchase one (along w/ a drill press and a router) tomorrow.

I was in my local HD this week and they had 3 - 4 sets of replacement blades for the Ridgid planer on a shelf right below the display unit. I seem to recall that they were $34 - 35.

I just returned from Borg with the planer (and drill press, router combo, MSUV, spindle sander). The guy in the tool dept. said they are hit or miss when it comes to blades being in stock. He did say there wouldn't be a problem getting them, just as you guys stated.
