Router fence

What do you guys think of this fence. He's asking $60. Will I need a Rousseau table for it as well? Or will it work for other brands. Or should i just make my own.

I *think* it's the same as this model. Am I correct?

Looks like the same one in your link. Should be able to use it on a table that you make. It should be adaptable, I would think. It is probably attached to the table with a couple of T-bolts. Ask the seller to make sure before you buy it.

For use on other tables, hard to tell. If it does use T-bolts that slide in tracks then the T-bolts would have to be moveable to make sure it would fit on other tables.

I would have the seller clarify how the fence is attached to a table before I bought it. Reviews show 5 stars for the fence. Why is it being sold?

The link you provided has a hot link that shows "4 used & new available from $69.99". If you click on it, you'll see Amazon's price of $70 shipped, which makes me wonder if the $60 price is negotiable.

Building your own is doable, but a good manufactured router fence for $60 is attractive enough that I'd be tempted to just buy it.

I've just completed building a fence, so my thoughts on this topic are fresh!

Pros:

• Cast aluminum body. Will be nice and solid, giving confidence.
• Baltic birch faces. Should be smooth and straight.

Cons:

• No dust port (?). The higher-priced model includes this and you want it!
• No t-track on the fence. May be cumbersome to attach feather boards.

The price seems a bit iffy to me, but I would have considered it, rather than make one.

My take is somewhat different. First yes you can use this fence with any plate. For a whole bunch less money you can make one just as good from plywood scraps, if you have any laying about. You'll also be able to design in dust control (but if it is the one you linked too it does have a dust port) and size it to fit whatever table you desire. There is a school of thouth that router fences should not be attached with t track in the top of the table, and although I do not agree with this, I do think it does have some merit and is worth considering. In my application t tracks have no way of weakening my table. Food for thought. It also looks like the attachment slots are fixed, which may or may not be a bad thing.
