I bought a dewalt DW735 planer the other day and I was looking into buying an extra set of blades. I can already tell that the stock ones are not going to last very long planing Pecan. I've found that Infinity Cutting Tools makes what are supposed to be superior blades for this planer. Do any of you have them? Do you recommend anything else?

Someone here probably owns them, I do own that planer, and the biggest complaint is that the dewalt knives just don't last very long. I think they are double sided, so there's that.
The aftermarket ones from Infinity claim to last 3x the time, which I could believe. More importantly for me is are they sharpenable? Back bevel sharpening makes a big difference for curly materials.Keith Z. Leonard

Reportedly, can't confirm this though, DeWalt has acknowledged that the knives on the 735 weren't their best effort. They are in the process of or have already upgraded to better knives. I would be a little skeptical about ordering DeWalt knives until I know that all the older ones are off the shelves.
The HHS knives that Infinity sells are supposed to last longer than the stock DeWalt and those are what I plan to order when I need new knives for my 735._________________________

I sent an email to Dewalt Customer service about the crappy blade life on this planer. I never hear a response, but about two weeks later I got a package with a new set of knives from Dewalt!Comment

I should say that the blades aren't that bad. THe big problem is that they easily get tiny nicks. I've planed a bunch of red oak, poplar and cherry (about 300bf total) and I've got a nearly invisable nick on my blades that leaves a pencil line wide mark down my stock. I think that's about typical. It's nothing that can't be sanded out. I wouldn't worry to much if you just got the planner. You've got 2 sides to those blades. Unless your doing a thousand BF or a couple of nails
those blades will last a while.
