    Aluminum cutting band saw blade - tpi?

    What kind of band saw blade with how many tpi should be used to cut
    1/4" aluminum At 2780 fpm? (Craftsman 10" 21400 band saw)

    This is the blade I use on the same saw for cutting aluminum, brass, plastic and even some wood. Slices through a 2 x 8 quick enough.
    It's part number 4179A866 at McMaster Carr. I think it's $23.52 but it is a Sterrett blade. Last a good long time.

      you should use an 8-10 tpi bi-metal with a variable tooth or hook tooth. if you can use a 1/2" wide blade you'd be better off.

        70.5 inch band saw blades

        Thanks gents! McMaster Carr, of the BIG catalogs seems the only one with 70.5 blades. Neither MSC (here in Elkhart), nor Grainger show that size. Tool Center has a nice selection & I'm sure there are other good places like it.

            I'm impressed with the smooth cut! (It wasn't available in 1/2")
