What router plate for Triton 3 1/4 HP router?

Just got the Triton 3 1/4 router. It's going to be table mounted. It's pretty
heavy. What type of plate are you using for table use? I was going to get a
3/8" phenolic plate, but don't have experience with it and don't know if it will
sag or not. The other option is a 1/4" aluminum plate, but that's 2x as much.

    Thanks,
    Paul

    Paul,

Have you thougth about just mounting it to the underside of your table? Not knowing what your table is, but assuming you can rout an opening for a plate, just rout away the area were the router mounts (7" diameter circle?) to a 3/8 thickness. This way you can still utilize the above the bit changes, you don't have to futz with cutting the opening for your plate just right, and you save the $30-$90 to boot! I don't see the advantage of a plate when using the Triton. If you elect to go this route, make your table top at least 1 1/2" thick. This will assure zippo sag.

    Just my $.02.

    Good luck!

Like this 1-1/4" hole in 3/8" MDF top, glued to 3/4" MDF base with a hole just big enough to fit the Triton base...
(OEM base removed before attaching to the table)

Well, I have no table right now so lots of options. I was thinking about
mounting it to the underside of my table saw's right side extension (I have a
big Grizzly saw). I like the commercial plates because they include the
reducing rings. I don't know how I'd go about making those myself. Maybe
instead of having nesting concentric rings, just make several the same size but
          have different size holes?

I'm using the aluminum plate from Woodpecker for my Triton but I like to use multiple plates on a project once things are set up and like the ability to pop one router out and set another one in.
