Do you guys recommend getting the replacement from Dewalt (DW7352 I think)? I read there were other aftermarket blades and that the Dewalt ones didn't last long. thanks

I've not had trouble with my 735 knives but I do hear that Infinity Tools (www.infinitytools.com) is making higher-end replacement knives. You might want to check their site for info on them.Tom Hintz

Approximately how many bf or operating hours can you use your Dewalt blades before you have to replace them. Reason I ask is that some reviewers claim they wear out pretty quickly (after a dozen bf by one account). I've only put some test boards through mine but will put it in some major use this summer. Just wondering what replacement set to get. thanks for your input.I've not had trouble with my 735 knives but I do hear that Infinity Tools (www.infinitytools.com) is making higher-end replacement knives. It's been my experience with my 735 that if you don't try and plane off too much material on a single pass the knives will last. I have no way of knowing for sure of course but I'm guessing that those who complain about the knives dulling quickly might not have that problem if they took smaller amounts off at each pass through the planer.
The HSS knives sold by Infinity, for now, are the only other knives available for this planer besides the DeWalt knives. The stock and replacement knives sold by DeWalt are not HSS and shouldn't last as long as the Infinity knives. When its time for me to purchase new knives for my planer, I plan to go the Infinity route._________________________

I bought my 735 last fall when I started making new cabinet doors. I ran about 100 bf of Oak and it was still cutting good on the first side of the blades. The next project was 100 bf of Hickory. The first couple of boards finished off that side of the knives. We turned them over and shortly the other side was dull. I am not sure how many times we took the knives out and sharpened them to get through that 100 bf. It seems to me the kind of wood makes a big difference as I was taking off about the same each pass. My next set of knives will be from infinity for sure. They are just a few $$ more and they claim they will last 4 times longer.Cut twice.... measure??Comment
