    HF Air Cleaner

Does anyone have this air cleaner?

It's on sale at HF for $129, which seems like a good deal.

Hmm, wonder if they have in in the stores? Possibly combine with this coupon: http://www.bt3central.com/showthread.php?t=27980

I'm sure it would be a big YMMV.

Looking for an air filtering system myself, so I would also appreciate any opinions if ayone has this.

As always, where HF is concerned. On the other hand, how variable can you mileage be on a fan in a box?

Yeah, they're usually pretty good about allowing deals to stack up, but you never know.

Well, I don't know if you should really take Jet at their word, but if they're telling the truth they are cleaning air 2-3 times faster than the HF model and doing it quieter to boot.

            HF Model:
            $129
            Three speeds (230, 247, 360 CFM)
Low noise operation: 50 to 60 dB

            Jet Model AFS-1000B
            $229
            Three speeds (550, 702, 1044 CFM)
Low noise operation: 42 dB (from seller's website, not on Jet's)

well, from the above specs, jet seem to be the better choice product vise, but price vise the hf. this product difference is what has kept me from buy a hf dc or air cleaner. i am now resorting to looking for used ..... search isnt going well because i havent looked for any in the last few weeks.

I saw this spec on the web site. Doesn't it seem wierd? I mean the difference between 230 cfm and 247 cfm is peanuts. Who would design a product that way?

I'm still inclined to get this thing. As it stands I'm not using anything, and I'm unlikely the pull the trigger on a product >$200.

FWIW - I have the Jet and it does a good job but one of the wood mags (I don't remember which one but it was discussed on here) did some tests fairly recently and a box fan with filters attached did as well in the rankings.

I think I remember a post from several months ago where the numbers on the HF unit were not correct. I think that the amps it was drawing suggested that it was more powerful than the air #s indicate. Maybe someone else will recall.

YMMV, but my Lowes has the following Delta model marked down to $99.

I think this model has been discussed here before.

Yeah, this was mentioned a couple of days ago. Unfortunately, I couldn't find one at the nearest Lowe's.

Found it at 3 local Lowes a few weeks back, but they were all regular price. I wonder if replacement filters are hard to find or expensive, seems like they would be irregular shape/size.

Still using the box fan with filter strapped to it myself, but I don't like it. I had thought about getting a rectangular window fan and just building a box myself...
