HF mobile base

The mobile base kit is showing up in the new HF catalog. It is not yet on line. It is very much like the Delta kit. You have to supply the wood for the supports. It has a 300# weight limit. The number is 95288-OATH. The price is $45.99 but hopefully a sale will come soon.

Haven’t seen the catalog yet. But I have two that may be the same thing reintroduced. I was told they had to pull it become Delta complained that it was the same as theirs but ‘reversed engineered’ But with most things that HF copies some things were ‘compromised’ in the translation. Mine are balky in regards to lifting enough to clear the stationary rubber pads even when backed all the way up. I had to add a plate of Masonite between the 'cam' and the wheel plate to give the pivot wheel more travel. I have my planner on it that is maybe 200lbs. That price seem to be a bit high for HF, but maybe they have improved it.

When they had these available a few years ago their normal price was $29.99 but they'd go on sale for anywhere between $15-$20. I've got a few and for the price I paid, $15, I think they are a bargain. I doubt if they'll have much success with them at a price of $46.

I modified mine by replacing the 2x2's with 1˝" Unistrut channel iron. With the channel iron there is absolutely no bowing so the base raises up without a hitch.

I got mine on sale some years ago and wish I'd bought another one. I had a friend weld some box steel to mine so I know it is never going to break.
