How do I change the blade on the 1587?

Just got it tonight via UPS and read the instructions on how to change the blade. I know it's tricky changing the blade so I read and re-read the instructions but no luck. After turning the top 3 times then more than 3 times I still can't get the blade to turn from the 90degree position. Someone please help!

    thanks

Try turning is some more. I know when I got mine I had trouble. I think if I remember right I used a pair of pliers the first time to get a good grip on the blade and be able to turn it 90 deg. I think it is a little tight being new. Good luck. I love mine and now I have no trouble change blades. Just reread your post is it already at 90 deg? or are you trying to turn it 90 deg to take the blade out? If it is already at 90 deg the blade should come out, try pulling on it with the pliers.

I have to push the blade upwards, into the saw, a little to make mine easier to turn and remove. Also, when spinning the release handle "3 times" can you feel a little gritty/sandpaper like feel as it turns? If not, you haven't lifted the handle far enough to actually do anything. Lift it more while turning slowly until it snaps into the correct position.

Okay I think I figured out what the problem is but it's still not resolved. I am not able to pull the handle up high enough to allow the t slot in the plunge to turn. The handle only comes up 1/8 of an inch. I went to lowes to see the floor model and it looks like the handle is suppose to come up about an inch or so. I tried pulling it up again and making sure that the orbital setting is on III but it just wont come up. Do I need to return this one for another one?

I would Call Bosch and see what they say. It is under warranty and by dealing with them you might get a new one sooner. Look on their web sit also for help.

Thanks for the help guys. I finally figured it out. For some reason the handle wouldn't come up fully until I actually lifted it as far as it would go, about an 1/8th of an inch then turn it 180 degrees. Only then would it fully come up. Now it's working like it's suppose to. The directions didn't mention anything about having to turn the handle to lift it up. None the less it seems like it's working now so I guess it'll be a keeper.

            Thanks again for the help.

Congrats Ryan on the new jigsaw, I'm sure that you'll be happy with it. Now, if you had only gotten the Freud FJ85 you wouldn't have had to go through all that grief just to mount a blade.
