Casters - where do you get them?

Where do you guys buy your casters? I want to put them on my tools that don't already have some type of mobile base. Looking for ones that have breaks for both the wheels AND swivel.

I just got four from Rockler. I plan on putting them on my flip top work station.

Most of my casters were purchased at Lee Valley 4" swivel lock.

Lighter loads, I use the ones from Grizzly.

For heavier loads, mine come from Darnell - Rose (casters.com). Heavy duty and they can customize the casters to some extent with different sizes/types of wheels, axle bearing types, and changing the type/size/cofiguration of the mount plates.

Lance, you do know that those are stud casters (or whatever you call those casters with the stem on them), right? I ordered two sets a few months ago when they were on sale for about $20 each, then had to figure out how to use them with my plywood bases.

Tractor Supply carries a pretty good selection of decent casters. I use the better quality Harbor Freight casters for some stuff. Pappy's right about Darnell casters, they are the industry standard in my business..

I got several pairs from big lots a few years back. They are surprisingly good. I have also purchased the rockler set for a couple of things, one being my drum sander.

I found some really nice casters at the Big Orange Box. They have rubber tires and lock from the top. These really work well for me on the modified Ultimate Tool Stand I am working on. This thing is really heavy, and the casters having a rubber tire really roll well, cushion some of the shock going over joints, and the locks work really well. Not only do they stop them from rolling, but, they lock the caster in position.

my local ace hardware has a fair selection.
www.mcmaster.com has any caster you can think of and they are located in LA. you could order them will-call and have them the same day.
