    what is this worth?

I recieived a 6" Harbor Freight jointer as a "loan" until I can pay or the owner wants it back. It is at least 5 or 6 years old but seems to work fine. What do you think a fair buying price would be? I can use it for a while but at some point I would like to buy. What do you think?

Something that old, I'd say about 1/2 of the original price. Mostly because HF items don't hold their value as well as brand named items. Check Ebay (completed items) and CL for a comparison.
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

keep in mind, HF sale prices power tools at least 10%, and in addition, you can receive 20% with a coupon. I would cut that price in half and Bob's your uncle.

if there's some extras, accessories, etc. take that into consideration.

I bought one, and later sold it, for $100.

I would think somewhere between $100-$125. I paid $140 for one on a cheap mobile base.

              $100 seems fair to me.
