    Wood magazine question

I just started subscribing to Wood magazine and received my first issue yesterday and was suprised to see it was issue #173, November, 2006. Does anyone else subscribe to Wood magazine, and is this the latest issue they have?

Within the past week, I rec'd Issue 175, March 2007.

What you've experienced is a common and, IMO, slightly shady practice in the magazine industry. They process the subscription based on the date of your order, not taking into account the fact that by the time you get your first issue, the proverbial six to eight weeks later, it might well be two or three issues behind what's on the newsstands. This is, I hunch, a way of disposing of unsold back issues, to cut their losses on those.

If I've not been buying the magazine off the stands, I usually just let it go: the information is still of interest to me, and the cover date means nothing. But I once fired off a letter of complaint when I had been buying a particular magazine (not WOOD) on the stands, and already had the first couple issues they sent me, and ended up getting a complimentary one-year extension on my sub.

Thanks Larry for the speedy response. And yes, I had already bought this issue when it first hit the stands, so I think I will be giving Wood magazine a call and see what happens.

I'm confident they will deal with it in a helpful helpful way. They want happy subscribers.

They might be trying to be helpful rather than cheap. I have subscribed to a magazine partly because of an article in a current issue.
