Was on Craigslist this afternoon looking for a Jointer. There was a listing for Grizzly G1182 series 6" Heavy Duty Jointer for $250. The add said it was barely used. It aslo had a mobile base. It is an older model with two levers for adjusting the infeed and outfeed tables. I am planning on buying a Jointer in the next 6 weeks but was wondering if this might be a good deal providing it is in good shape. I will probably go look at it tomorrow. or Thursday. It looks like the original price was in the $475 range.

The new jointer I was considering are the Ridged, Grizzly,Sunhill, Yorkcraft, Shopfox 6" and 6 1/8" Jointers. All in the $300-$400 range

The 1182 is a solid machine. At the time, it was from the same factory as the GI, Jet, Bridgewood, Sunhill and others. Wood Mag rated it #1 over the Jet, Ridgid, Bridgewood, and 2 Deltas in their Sept 2001 or 2002 6" jointer comparison.

$250 in good condition sounds very reasonable.

Thanks for the info. Called the guy and was told someone was on the way out to look at it. It is about 25 miles away thought rush hour traffic would take at least an hour to get there, so unless he calls back it is gone. I will keep looking. I think it will be between the Ridged (instant gratification) or the Grizzly or the Yorkcraft depending on price and shipping. Sunhill has a low price and reasonable shipping but I question the quality although I think they all come from the same casting facility in China. Besides that is half the fun is the research and the shopping.
