    DIY Sander help wanted

I was reading a forum yesterday and saw a post from someone who had made one and said they thought it was better than what you could buy. This got me to googling and it appears that it is not all that uncommon a concept. Several people have had success, thought there are many engineering challenges that could be improved on. If anyone is interested I setup a bbs board and have started inviting some folks to participate today including some folks from the DIY CNC project.

Feel free to post any ideas or design concepts you want to contribute over here.

    Good idea?

    Do you mean this post?

Yeah that was me.. For your first one, I'd recommend building it just like Shopnotes says to. It could be made wider quite easily, I made mine the stock 18" because you must match the conveyor belt size to the drum size and 18" was easy to get and I didn't want to figure out anything. I just wanted to follow directions and have something that worked well.

It's an awesome little machine and a valued addition to my shop. I power it off my BT3100 for now. I use a router speed control to adjust the FPS on the drum, a big help..

I'd be happy to contribute in a few weeks to your site. I'm a tied up at the moment travelling.
