    Dump Saw

I found this saw at the dump two days ago the man who runs the place told me whoever left it said the motor was burned up, so I take it apart it's locked up won't turn. Inside the motor between the armature and the field there is some thin white looking plastic stuff so I clean it all out with the airhose. Guess what? the motor runs good as new so I put it all back together just the way it came apart shims and all, lubed it all up. Had to order some minor parts $34.81 worth. Now here's the kicker this saw is practically brand new.
    Here's a pic. of saw.

That's cool. Did you have a BT3 before?

Could you call me if you find a Powermatic?

      Well, aren't you special!!

Why do I never find such a deal? Good on you Headnut. If you have a few bucks laying around, I suggest that it might be time to buy a lottery ticket.

        dump saw...?

Kinda ,makes you wonder doesn't it? why would anyone with half a brain
in their head simply throw away a perfectly good $300.00 saw because of a minor problem like that? Even if I didn't know much about the saw...I would take it to a repair center or someone that I thought could fix it before throwing it away at dumps site!

I guess that some people have money to burn and are of the mindset that
says " if it don't work ...dump it" everything is disposable nowadays anyhow
        I'll get another one.

I've seen or have seen people buy a new lawnmower....use it one season
run over some object hidden in the grass ...the mower knocks off
usually a sheared crankshaft/flywheel key, they dump it at the curb and go buy another one!

I don't have money to throw away like that...I have to keep my stuff
fixed and running to get the use out of it! eezlock

Do believe that's the best deal I've seen on a BT! And if you don't like the saw, safe bet you can make a good profit on her.

Congrats on the great find. Now I'm not sure who's dumber....the guy that dropped it off, or the employee that just let it set there.

                            Congratulations and Welcome!

I found one in terrible condition sitting out in the weather a couple of years ago- at a construction office site. Asked about it and they gave it to me. It was in terrible condition but I cleaned it up over time and it is OK. No SMT or fence but everything else is working. I hope to make a Frankensaw out of it some day - probably when I retire.

                            Again, congratulations!

Hey Headnut, welcome to the forum. By the way, that's my saw and I'll like to have it back.
It's a long story. You see my my wife decide to buy that saw for me if I go to Georgia with her on the weekend. That saturday morning I decided to go fishing instead. When I came back home that afternoon she had left for Georgia and the saw was missing. When she came back the following week I asked her about the saw. She replied she was mad at me and got rid of it at some dump while in Georgia.
If I'm not able to get it back, please take good care of it.
I still remember how it looked, and I missed it so much. Can't say anymore now. S-o-b-b-b-b-i-n-g.

                              P.S. Please get a Herc-u-lift for it.
