    Harbor Freight XY Vice

    Did a little research ref the HF xy vice and found a decent article at Woodcentral that might help someone adapt it to a mortise machine.

    Good write up. Used that one to set up my HF mortiser. Makes it heavy as all get out but it works great. Pat

      Nice article. Thanks for sharing.

      Another tip I read in the recent PW on holding stock tight to the mortiser fence: Mount a toggle clamp on a board. C-clamp the board onto the mortiser table with the inside edge parallel to the fence. The gap between the fence and the board should be just snug enough to let the stock slide as you feed it into the machine. Use the toggle clamp to press the stock against the fence as you cut the mortise.
