I would have to look to be sure, but I think the TW 3 TPI is on right now from resawing some oak. Depends on what I was doing when I used it last.

Tom, my band saw currently (and usually) wears the same 1/2" 3tpi blade as yours, Greg's, and Ken's ... except mine is the real-deal Wood Slicer, which means it doesn't suffer the stigma of lower cost.

          A Lennox 3/4" 3 TPI Tri-Master Carbide tipped blade.

          Expensive but I love it.

1/2 3tpi for resawing (AllPro brand), 1/4 -6tpi for curves. I use band saw for curves more than for resaw, so 6tpi is the default for me.

Timberwolf 1/4" 6tpi is my Grizzly GO555 and is my standard all around blade. When I re-saw a Timberwolf 1/2" 4tpi goes on.

                        James,
Got your PM and answered it.

I'm running that Lennox on a ShopFox 19" saw.

Sounds like there really is a consensus on the 1/2" 3tpi as a "default" blade. I think I got started with the 1/4" 6tpi as a default before I really knew how I was going to use my bandsaw. But, I find I do more resawing, and "straight" cuts than I do tight curves. (I put "straight" in quotes, because, while the cut is straight, it's not necessarily parallel to an edge, so the BS gets the nod over the TS.)

With a 1/2" 3tpi on the saw, I'm less likely to do a cut that will be hard on the blade, like I was with the 6tpi.

And, Larry, to help my blade overcome its stigma, I wrap it with a ten dollar bill when not in use.

                          Regards,
                          Tom
p.s. Yes, it was the Michael Fortune article in FWW that I referred to earlier.
