Porter Cable let me down today

Today was one of those days when everything seemed to go wrong. I got going early with a list of things i wanted to accomplish and struggled to get any of it done First, my PC router 690 all of sudden started to lose power. I've had it for 3 years no problems before, but today it lost power during a cut. Waitd for a few minutes turned it back on went along fine for a bout 2 minutes then lost it again, breakers were fine never lost power. Would this be the motor dying? Then move to another "qick project that called for the PC 6gl air compressor. Had that for 4 year, maybe have used it 6 times. Fire it up today fills up and shuts of automatically as its supposed to but then I hear air escaping inside the motor casing. Checked everything on the outside and all is well. It seems something may has gone wrong inside after only half a dozen uses? Warranty is up. I guees I'll have to dig inside for a cause. Thanks for letting me rant, any suggestions or commiseration is welcome

Can't help you on your compressor and it may not fix you up but have you checked your brushes on the router?

Most compressors have a safety valve that opens if the compressor pressurizes the tank excessively. Mine has stuck open a time or two, you might check that. There is usually a split ring attached to the valve that pulls it open in emergencies, I just pushed mine shut after I bleed the tank and it worked fine since.

I have a PC pancake compressor and it has leaked air out of the top of the intake valve cover. I've taken it all apart and can find no apparent reason for the leak. I let it drain down and refill and the leak went away. This has happened twice in 3 years. It's annoying but doesn't seem to last on mine anyway.

The one at work has done that a time or 2 for me. It seats itself again and you are fine.

Agree with checking the brushes, but also check the plug and the socket! I had the socket on the power outlet get worn and the plug wiggled loose, causing no end of confusion.

I have a DeVilbiss hotdog which is the same basic design. There is a rubber seal at the intake where the tube goes into the head and then to the tank. I had issues with that at one time.
The router question, brushes, dustbuild up, switch contacts.

Well you guys were right about the compressor. Fired it up this morning and it worked just fine. I will address the router this week. I will pull the brushes and see if that's the cause. Thanks as always for all the help!
