    Tool Gloat

Not exactly a woodworking tool gloat, but it allows me to spend more time in the shop and less time shoveling snow.

Got lucky Wednesday morning and stopped by Lowes to see if they'd gotten another shipment of snow throwers. They were expecting them Thursday morning. One of them they were getting was the Troy Bilt 8.5 HP, paid for it and left. Thursday morning came and no truck, got a call from the manager last night about 7 PM and it was there along w/ 5 of the 5.5 HP ones.

Took me about a half hour to get there and by the time I did the 5.5 HP ones were all gone and one "gentlemen" was trying to talk the manager into selling mine to him.

They had gotten 400 snow shovels in the shipment also, which were sold out in 3 hours.

Anyway this thing is mean! I cut through last weeks snow on the side walk at 4 foot tall pretty quick along with last nights 10". Actually did the entire side of my street, sidewalks and driveways 8 houses in all, in about 2 1/2 hours. Makes a huge difference as I spent the entire day last week shoveling out the driveway by hand.

You lucky dog, you. We just got about a foot over night here at the house and all I have is a snow shovel. Wish we had a Lowe's. We do have a HD and just read in this morning's paper where they are going to put in a second one. Sure wish Lowe's would come in.
My youngest son has been trying to fly out of Phx to Denver the past couple of days with no luck (visit his older bro. in Colo Spgs). I think he is going to wait now until spring break to go.

I have no use for a snow thrower here in the Phoenix area. That's my gloat. But I know what shoveling snow is like having grown up on Long Island in New York.
Congrats on the nice power tool I'm sure it makes your life a lot easier.

No real snow yet where I am here in Canada ... surprised, but nice as no snow to shovel ... maybe we're skipping winter this year by the looks of it ... got a honkin' big snow blower and it's still sitting in the shed out back ...

Skipping winter here in Minnesota too . I think it's because Denver is hogging all the snow. Heck half of Texas has had more snow than we have!

Shovels are great if you have kids cleaning your driveway, if you need to do it yourself a big snowblower is the only way to go

What is a snow thrower/blower? Here in Sacramento I have to cut the lawn on Saturday. Doesn't really need it but want to pick the last of leaves and small twigs and stuff from the last storm, faster and easier than raking. That will be the last time until sometime in March. I spent two years working in the snow, I want no part of it.

I drove into work this morning here just south of Atlanta, GA with the temp around 50 f. I'd say that was worth a 'no snow/frost' gloat.

Man, I could have used something like that a few minutes ago, Cabinetman. My driveway is really snowpacked. Wife couldn't get her p/u out. It's stuck in the middle of the driveway. She had to get my little 4-wheel drive p/u to go to town. Funny thing is, once out of our driveway, there is no snow on the road, nice and dry.

The county grader came by sometime today and broke/knocked down our mailbox plowing the snow off the roadway. I called them, but no luck, did leave a message, though. Don't know if it will do any good.

Having grown up in Idaho, and lived in Denver, Montana, and now Ohio, I can appreciate what you're going through. More than one time I wished I had a snow thrower.

Just for giggles, we went shopping today in t-shirts and shorts. 60 degrees and beautiful here, first time I can remember that temp this time of year around here. Guess I'll blame global warming--NOT.
