Just got a Bostitch N88RH Framing Nailer

Hi Y'all!

Just got this because I needed to frame some walls in the basement and possibly use it for putting up a deck in spring. This is one big nailer compared to my Porter Cable finish and brad nailers. Never done framing before but for starters what length size nails should I buy? Should I buy 3 1/2" or should I buy something shorter? Any info would be appreciated..

Is this a good deal?

I am not sure what those nails should run, I never bought Bostich before. Check the prices at Borg..

As far as nails.. I use 16d for framing and 8d for sheathing. I perfer ringshanks over smooth nails.

If you're using 2 x 4's or 6's for framing, you should use the 3 1/2" nails. Can't comment on the price, as the last case I bought was years ago and can't remember what I paid for them. Have fun with the new toy

We use 3" x.131" nails in all our framing nailers. I think that works out to be a 10d. If you use it to build a deck be sure to get galvanized nails. Since they changed the treating to be safer for humans the wood eats metal now. I think the boxes of nails are around $30 at Home Depot.
