    HF 6 1/8" jointer

I know some of you have this jointer, and there have been threads indicating that it can do a good job with proper setup. It's something I'm considering, but can't justify a more costly one. Never having had a jointer, I'm wondering just what it takes to set it up properly for good results.

Also, I see this jointer is in the winter catalog reduced from $199.99 to $149.99. But it seems to me they have it on sale for $99.99 every so often. Am I correct about that?

Do you know about kickback? Ray has a good writeup here... https://www.sawdustzone.org/articles...mare-explained

I have the similar 7" model. When I first got it I had to spend some time getting the table coplanar and the blades lined up. It took a few hours, but came together nicely.

It works like a champ. The tables and main body are heavy cast iron. The tables seem to be flat. It's a very serviceable tool.

I've never noticed a $99 price, but I haven't really been watching, either.

    Good Luck,

I had one for 1 day, quality was crude at best, it was so far out of adjustment I returned it. I was able to buy a display JP610 Ridgid(grey) for $200, had to add some bolts, all the adjustments were correct. $149 is the sale HF price-15% coupon in store ad. This ridgid is great except I would rather have an 8" and a taller stand.
