I'm planning on looking around for a Hercu-Lift at the local Borgs but also thinking about building my own.

Does anyone have a reasonably-priced source for the lift casters and rubber feet?

I got my leveling feet from McMaster-Carr. Run a search for "leveling mounts". I think the ones I bought were style 8, part #62805K34. I would have to measure on to be sure. Under $2 each but they come in bags of 10.

Casters I get from Darnell-Rose (casters.com). The ones I use run about $12 each and are high quality. I can pull the receipts to give you part #'s and a point of contact if you want.

The source for leveling feet is great. Even with ten to a bag, I can always use the extra ones to replace worn feet on the lift for my jointer. Not sure which of the many excellent designs I'll build but with a table saw, sander, tool cabinet and planer to get mobile, I've got plenty of opportunities to experiment.

At $15, a Herc-U-Lift is just too inexpensive to pass up. At $60 for the others, I might as well build. Lifting casters are just to save time, if I can find 'em.

Don't go cheap on the casters. The HF/HD/Lowe's have poor swivels and will leave you unhappy. Depending on size, quality will run $12-15.

I bought a mobile tool base from Woodcraft some months ago that was on sale for $50, and saw it for that price again just recently. You supply some 3/4" plywood cut to the size you want and attach the casters to it--very simple. I put my bandsaw on it and it works great. I haven't had any luck finding a herculift in a couple of HD's in the Denver area, but I'll keep trying.
