Broken splitter on my Craftsman TS

OK- So I guess I still have a lot to learn about my TS. I bought it used for about $150 or so, and it didn't have a manual. So, I didn't read before hand not to leave the splitter/ blade guard accessory installed when moving the assembly to a 45 degree angle for a miter cut. Long story short- the splitter pushed up against the table top, and the part that connects the splitter to the internal part (the trunion?) cracked in half. So now I have no splitter, and no guard.

I don't have the model number on hand- but is there a change to even replace it? Will another (hopefully inexpensive) after market splitter work? Or does craftsman stillhave replacement parts for something that may be quite old (it looks like the same saw my dad has had since I can remember)?

Thanks for the help! I feel a little nervous cutting w/o a splitter installed. Never had a kickback, but I don't want to start now!

You should still be able to get parts for this saw from the Sears site. A model number might help to identify that for certain. If it is the right model number, it may very well be the same bracket as the Ridgid 3650. If so, parts can be obtained for it as well from a different source online.

It sounds like you may have tried tilting the blade with a ZCTP installed. That would be a no no.
Let us know what model number it is and perhaps we can help further.
