    Delta Table Saw

I was looking at the 36-675 or 36-680. The only real difference is in the tops. Both have a cast center section. The 36-675 has stamped steel wings and the 36-680 has cast wings. Does anyone have one of these saws or can provide feedback.

    Thank you

I have the 36-675 and it is a solid table saw and I am very happy with it. I was one of the lucky ones who got this saw for $317.00 when HD had them on clearance. The assembly was straight forward and clearly explained in the manual. I've ran 8/4 pieces of Maple, Cherry, Oak and Padauk and the saw cut through them with ease. I replaced the stock blade with a Freud LU84R001 and most of the pieces I've ran through the saw did not need to be ran through the jointer. I have built a mobile base and I've added a router table extension to the right side to replace the stamped steel wing. I am planning to install a bench dog cast iron router table to replace the stamped steel wing on the left side. I also bought the longer rails for the T2 fence to increase the cutting capacity of the saw. The fence is solid and accurate. I have been busy doing stuff around the house that I have not had time to finish the mobile base, I would say I am about 90% done with it and will post pics once it is done. The 36-680 is pretty much the same except it has a cast iron wings. My recommendation is to buy the 36-675 and use the money you save to buy a nicer blade, a mobile base and a Power Twist Plus Belt because it makes a world of difference.

    Hope this helps.
    Chris

No experience with the 36-675, but I have the 36-680 and love it. It is rock solid, and should be the last saw I ever buy. The 36-682 variety comes with a bissemeyer fence which has made life a lot easier. The price on this saw fluctuates greatly on amazon, but I picked it up for $550 earlier this year.

I had a 36-680 in the shop last spring for a couple of weeks. Nice competitive saw at the right price. If the price is much up over $600, I think I'd lean toward a hybrid or Grizzly contractor saw, or look at the newer Delta's with the built in mobile base.

I've got an older version of the 680, and no complaints. Using the proper sharp blade most table saws perform as they should. I see too much brand gloating/ bashing about tools. I believe making a decision on what is affordable, and making it work, along with learning how to set it up and use it properly is key.

I bit the bullet and got the 36-680 for about $450 on sale. Also got a good mobile base for about $50 when I bought the saw. Considering that the saw goes for $600 and up normally, I feel that I got a pretty good deal.

You got a great deal! Hope you'll pick up a really nice blade or two to optimize it....that stock blade won't do it justice. Congrats and enjoy!

That is an awesome deal, M8t!

Look for some deals on a power twist belt and once you install it on your saw, it kind a sounds like the table saw on the Woodcraft commercial, it's got the clean and steady hummm to it and you won't feel any vibration at all.
