Looking for advice

Hello Folks!

I was just wondering if anyone out there has ever owned or used a jointer made by 'Boice Crane'. I did a quick internet search and found that the company has gone under long ago, but parts are still avaliable. I found one for $150 and thought I might check it out. Was wondering if anybody has any 1st hand knowledge about them? Its a 6" model.

Seems like it may be a bit a gamble at that price. A jointer is a pretty simple machine but they need blades from time to time.If you really want it and it is a working thing of beauty, go for it. I think you should be able to find others for around that price if you decide to pass.

Is it a stationery model or a benchtop? For $150 you can find a new benchtop model.

I would check it out, you can always offer them less. We were discussing spiral and helical blades in another topic, and it got me to wondering. They are one of the first ones listed for either set, so if you couldn't find regular blades....

I have found that the company made stuff for high school wood shops and small companys. Would like to check it out for myself so I'll report back on what I find.
