    Hitachi 13 horsepower! miter saw@Amazon

Check out a marvel of engineering. Amazon is advertising a Hitachi miter saw with 13 horsepower. Best of all it uses only 9.5 amps though at what voltage is not stated. Still the motor looks pretty small for such amazing power!

    It is clearly a mistake.
Amazon says 13hp in a title - there is no mentioning of power anywhere else in specs. The saw is available at other stores - nobody mentions HP, but everybody lists 9.5 Amps. The saw is outdated - Hitachi itself does not have this saw even listed at its site. The review at Amazon states that this was among the first sliders in existance.
Hitachi site provides power rating for saws they manufacture now. For instance 10" CMS is rated at 1650W. That is about 2.1HP and very realistic. By this account the 8.5" with 9.5 Amps saw can really be 1.3HP. Looks to me like a typo in decimal point at Amazon.
In any case - 8.5" relique SCMS at over $300 is a joke in my opinion.

I have that saw. It was new in the 80's. Not a bad saw... but i would pick it's new 10" belt driven brother anyday. Especially at that price.
