    Ambient Air Filter

Looking that the Jet, Delt and PSI - all seem about the same

    PSI AC620 $229.95 + $23 Shipping
    Delta AP2000 $262.32 + 0 Shipping (Amazon)
    Jet AFS-1000B - $274.00 + 0 Shipping (Amazon)

Anyone got any suggestions as to which one is better -- The Delta and Jet have reviews on Amazon... Newer Jets may have noisy motors.

I would choose based on filtration specifications. The Penn State unit will filter 98% of particles 3 micron or bigger and 60% of particles 1 micron or bigger. The other two you mention may have ratings very close to that but I didn't see their filtration ratings. I would choose disposable filters over washable. Washable filters lose their effectiveness after repeated washing and the residue from the water and soap will remain on the filter.

You may want to try and pick up the October issue of Wood magazine, they did a shootout of all the major names.

here's a link to the info about the article:

The Jet has a rating of 1 micron on the inner filter and 5 microns on the outer filter. I disagree that throwaway outer filters are better than the washables. I've been using the same washable filter for years with absolutely no reduction in the filtering ability. Using soap on a washable filter is also something I've never done either, I just rinse mine with a garden hose and let it air dry.
