New Jet JWTS-10 (708100) looks promising

This new Jet JWTS-10 is redesigned w/ a trunion that allows the motor to sit inside the box, rather than hang outside. And it looks like it has a pretty good dust collection port, too!

I used one of Jets older versions of this saw for a long time and it worked fine. The steel wings were made from surprisingly thick material and also did a very good job. (Keep them waxed, just like cast iron to keep them slick)
The new trunion design sounds interesting. Jet sure seems like they have stepped up the R&D program the last couple of years.

FYI, for the month of October, Rockler has this saw on sale for $399.99. The store flyer has it featured. Don't know if the deal applies to internet orders.

I've heard 3 or 4 positive comments from users so far, and no negs. It looks like alot of saw for $400.

I noticed it in the sale flyer but I think that it is a previous version that doesn't have the redesigned trunion. I called my local store and he didn't seem aware of a redesign and insisted I was talking about the Supersaw. Don't know. I might call 'em back and get a part # from one of the NIB saws.

If it is the new design for $400, I'm buying one. As someone somewhere else put it, it is a hybrid w/o the cabinet (allowing me to build my own that also holds my router table). But it is even more compact. Kinda like a BT3K w/ cast-iron top and induction motor.

Does anyone know if Jet makes cast iron extensions that fit these saws? I imagine the tops are all pretty much the same size and the cast iron extensions from another model could be made to fit.

The sale flyer I received stated that it is the new design "with a unique trunion design, the motor is completely within the tablesaw cabinet." I would think the cast iron extensions would work, the rest of the saw looks unchanged.

I can't believe I didn't catch that in the sales flyer. Stupid me. Guess I'll be purchasing a new table saw very soon now.

Also, at 599$, they've got the super saw hybrid, which I'd pay the 100$ more for than the new contractor version. The new contractor looks good too, but dunno about the fence.

The $600 Supersaw is the older version that had issues with "timing" belt for raising the blade. Not all had the issue, but it's supposedly a real pain for those that do encounter it. It comes with the Microglide fence, which is functional but not exceptional.

The $400 708100 is a hybrid for all intents and purposes...it's just sitting on a splayed leg stand like a contractor saw would have.
