Was in San Antone yesterday so I went by the jointech factory. It wasn't impressive but their systems surely were. The repeatability feature was outstanding and they have a board center finder that would make cutting dovetails and center grooves foolproof. The fence is rock solid and well made. The salesguy demo-ed their new digital router lift. It would sure take the guesswork out of cutting heights. Its a lot of money for the whole system but you wouldn't need to buy or build a router station plus it would save room as well. I don't have the space or money at the moment but when I do, it will get serious consideration.

So which part wasn't impressive?
The plant itself?
I can't imagine a company like that has a huge amount of hightech fabrication equipment to show off.
Probably using older technology CNC machinery?
Our facility here for fabrication of heat exchangers would probably give the same impression but we sure have some nice finished products.Brian

It was an old building and wasn't very big and their showroom doubled as a woodworking school but there is no doubting their products. Simply outstanding. Their miter sled is pretty ingenious. Once it's adjusted and set up for your saw, you never have to jack with it again. I saw just how easy it is to make those double dovetails using two different colors of wood. The templates you slide in the channel takes the guesswork out of it. I would rather have this system than a dedicated dovetail machine because of the versatility of other operations it can perform. BTW, the receptionist and the salesguy were very helpful and pleasant. They would be a pleasure to do business with.Howard, the Plano BT3'r.
