On my second use of a router, I was cutting a dadoe across some 2 inch wide by 36 inch long pine boards. Why not do all four at once instead of one at a time???
I set the boards up side-by-side (along the 3/4" thickness) with sacrificial boards on each side and clamped away in several places while adding a cutting guide board. Well, when routing across the boards, I reached a board that didn't have a clamp on it and off it went into my stomach.
No injury (I was going very slowly) but it was a surprise!!
Guess I learned that squeezing a board between two others (using just the sides) isn't sufficient when using a router. I pulled out the double-sided carpet tape (which I had heard about here) and used it along the bottom of all the boards and that was adequate to hold the boards in place (along with all the other clamps).
