    Bosch/Craftsman Router Accessory Question

Any experience with this guy? Worth the $40 Amazon wants for it?

That's the edge guide included in the 1617EVSPKE kit. Considering that better edge guides typically cost $30-50, I'd say the $40 price is fair. It's well made, adjusts accurately, and the dust collection nozzle works pretty well.

In case you're not aware, the little plastic suction cup thingie is a pivot that allows you to remove the edge guide fence portion and use the rods as a trammel arm (circle-cutting jig). This too works well.

I have that guide and like it a lot. Very finely adjustable for routing mortises and the like. I didn't know about the use of the suction cup, that's pretty cool. I should probably read the manual for the edge guide someday.

Oops, my bad ... I meant to write, the thingie that looks like a suction cup. Which it actually is not. You position it where you want it and tape it down with some masking tape or whatever, then drop the guide assembly over the post sticking up on top.

Cutting a circle with this rig was my very first routing operation when I got my 1617 kit. It really does work quite well, up to the obvious limits of the rod lengths (which I would guess as somewhere between an 18" and a 24" diameter circle ... I've never actually measured it).
