will this dust collector good enough for me?

I feel it is the time to have a dust collector now. I was using ridgid 12 Gal shop vacuum which is not powerful enough, although the peak horsepower is 5HP. I have a small shop with the size of 13 x 11, and I have never use two tools the same time, I was thinking of get a delta 1hp dust collector AP400 with 650 CFM. Will this be enough for me? Right now this dust collector is on sale at Amazon.com for $169, with free shipping and $25 discount on $150, which will bring down to the final price of $144. This same item is for sale at lowes for $199 plus tax. I need your guys' opinion. Thanks!

I think it will do alright in that small space if it's only hooked to one tool at a time. I have a little bigger shop (14'X16') and I have the 3/4 hp GMC that claims 450 CFM, I upgraded the dust bag to a 1 micron from Grizzly made it 2 stage by using the large trashcan cyclone lid.
I don't have much to judge against but I'm happy with the setup.

I may have just had a bad one but boy was it weak. I could throw a handfull of sawdust in the hose and more than half would fall back out. I took it back and got the Harbor Freight two HP model. It is not as beautiful to look at but is way more powerful.

I would hold off a little longer if you can. I got the Delta 760 model (1.5 hp 110v) for $150. Amazon had it on sale for $150 with $100 shipping, but I got a price match from lowes. It comes with a 1 micron top bag and pulls over 800cfm through the 5" inlet.

I'd print out the Amazon price and take it in to Lowes. See if Lowes will price match. Sometimes they do.

I would have to agree that a 1.5 hp would be better, however a 1 hp can do very well under the right conditions. Specifically with a canister rather than a bag. I think the bag 1hp collectors are often starved for air flow from the bag surface area restricting it.

That being said, you can usually get a 1.5 hp collector with a 1 micro felt bag cheaper than a 1 hp with a canister....so....there you go.

Thanks for the info. I guess I will wait for that kind of deal. I also read about the 30 micron bag is not very good, some fine dust will escape and float around the shop, this is the drawback.
