I didn't want to spend close to $200 on a Porter Cable biscuit joiner and decided to give O'Malley a try. I know it's a third the price of PC, but the quality of the tool did not impress me at all. It may cut the biscuit slots square, but will it be worth it in the long run, and most importantly, will it last. I don't see myself using buscuit joinery that much, then again, I do want it to last. Hmmm... decisions, decisions.

Several users on here (myself included) bought these when they first came out. The same as you, my personal reason was that I had on occasinal use for it, but not one that warrented spending $200.
That being said, I did use it a lot when building the recent hickory workbenches for the art studio, and it performed just fine. My biggest issue is that the dust port can get clogged too easily due to a metal rib that I have yet to grind out. Remember, the one I have is version 1, so you may get an improved one. -
IIRC, the original O'Malley joiner received much better reviews than the current model. I believe that the original one was to close of a copy to the PC557 and lawyers may have had meetings that resulted in the current model replacing the original one.
I have to agree that $200 is a lot to spend on a joiner if you only intend to cut slots at 90 degrees . If on the other hand you'll have occasion to cut slots at other angles then the PC557 is well worth the investment._________________________

Brian,
Thank you for your generous offer, but I already ordered a DeWalt reconditioned unit from Amazon. Another reminder to myself why I order router bits from you.Comment
