    That's also the beauty of using template guides and a plunge router, set your depth stop rod to the final thickness, then use the rotating stops on the base to take multiple passes. No predrill required, plunge and go, done in 3 passes or less. As far as dust goes, throw away the MDF and get some ply if the dust really concerns you. MDF is NASTY crap no matter what you do.

    btw: any time you might save cutting with a holesaw will be eaten up while you're trying to pry/beat/cuss the cutoff plug out of the saw .... DAMHIKT

      saber saw and router?

      How about using a jig saw to cut the hole, then a router with a patern bit to clean it up? That would require making a pattern, but seems to me that it would be cheaper than a hole saw and maybe even faster.

      Just a thought.
