    Radial Arm Saw repeat

Yes I did search the previous threads but wasn't really seeing anything I needed.

Yesterday I just an older model Craftsman RAS (not recalled) blind for $75.
My FIL picked it up after I found it on Craigslist Vancouver. That means I won't see it for probably a year. It's not worht driving my truck down for, so will wait until someone comes to Alberta from there.

Anyways, I'm having beer with a bud today and he says that I have to come over and see the saw he just bought. What kind of saw I says. Table saw he says. OK. Yeah, he says, it's got a huge table and you pull the saw over the top of it.
So off we go to look at his radial arm saw. On the way, he says he was thinking I would probably buy it from him for what he paid becasue I don't have one that looks like that.
It looks almost exactly like this one

except with a little more rust on the main support column and it says "Dewalt 3-1/2" cut" on the blade guard.
The motor sounds very smooth. Apparently it was rewound (not sure about that part) and new bearings. It looks like the original blade on it (seriously).
The table/cupboard is really rough, but good for now.

So if it is in good running condition, is it worth spending some TLC cleaning it up?
OH, he paid $150CDN for it...new Craftsman are $1100 up here.

I think there has been a recent post ( I may have posted to it) about the Black & Decker/ Dewalt RAS. With it set up and tuned up right with the right blade, it's not a bad saw. It's not an industrial saw, but it will keep you happy for a while. I've bought and sold many RAS's and never paid more than $125 I think. For $75 it's a good tool to have around. There are many and I repeat many areas to check and set up on a RAS. Like I said in the other post, I thought the RAS had more things to adjust and check than any other tool, as so many parts move in varied directions.
