    Freud SD206 dado setup question

There seem to be two possible ways to align the chippers with the outside blades on the Freud SD206 dado stack so that the teeth do not touch (the outside blade is configured like a rip blade with a tooth backed by an anti-kickback shoulder; the chipper has a U with a shoulder on the leading edge followed by a tooth on the back):

    1. with the tooth and the shoulder of the chipper surrounding the tooth and shoulder of the outside blade:
    -----OS OT
    CT----------CS

    2. with the tooth of the chipper farther back in the gullet of the outside blade and the shoulder of the chipper aligned with the shoulder of the next outside tooth:
    OT1------------OS OT2
    ------CT-------CS

Which way is right or preferred? Or does it matter?

    Thanks,

    Christopher

Doesn't matter. Only critical thing is that the teeth clear each other, so the various blades in the stack are "flat" with none of them sitting cattywampus (highly scientific woodworking term).

is that term related to a "wachamacallit"?

It's also a cousin of "doomahickie"!
