Anyone know what model this is?

Any information on this would be great. This is actually my first hand plane which I picked up at a yard sale. There are only three things I know so far but hoping to learn more about this item.

    1. This plane is tiny.
    2. It's made by Stanley.
    3. Defintely needs some work.

Any tips on restoring it would be appreciated as well. Thanks.

It looks a lot like one I got at a garage sale, I think I paid $4 or $5 for it. Mine is a stanley 12-101 (see attachment). If the rust is so bad try navel jelly, or 600 - 800 wet-or-dry silicon carbide sandpaper. If you use steel wool, particles left have the tendency to rust. Use bronze wool instead. Yours is definitely different than mine as it has the front and rear pods. There might be a stamping on it somewhere.

WD40 and wool should clean it up nicely. Like Cabinetman suggested, maybe clean and smooth the sole on some wet/dry paper. If you want to refinish it, I would get as close as possible to the color and spray paint it.
