Triton MOF001 1400W Router - More...

Gentlemen (in particular, Ray) - some notes:

I plan to use my brand new MOF001 dedicated only for 1/4" shank bits, in a router table. On reflection, and based on the past use of "old faithful", my Ryobi R150 (now to be used for the odd hand held job. so to speak); New requirements are:

• Single table opening 1-5/8" dia. Covers all my roundover bits. This means no need for "inserts".
• Because of the "above table" bit change, the router "never" needs to be removed!
• My original (small) router table has proved to be all I need - the only problem was having to take the router out for bit changes. 6mm MDF glued to a 18mm base (see pic).

The New plan:

• 9mm MDF top (drilled to attach the router); glued to an 18mm base with a hole to fit the router - like my original.

NOTE: Although this router has a lot of metric "stuff", for some reason Triton chose to use 1/4"-20 threaded holes to attach the base plate - NICE!

Drill an extra hole for the accessory winding handle and you'd never even need to open the cabinet door!

Rod, I like your background (neatly organized containers).
That is one thing I can claim to have organized is all my screws.

Picked up the "baby" Triton myself today. It was on for $239 CDN for the complete kit.
Don't need it but I can't resist a good deal for a good product.
I saw when I was in Busy Bee that the big brother has changed model # and now has the push button plunge release and through-table adjustment.
Mine doesn't have that.

I think I will have the big boy mounted permanently to my Jessem Mast-R-Plate and be able to interchange the Bosch & PC into the Rout-R-Lift that fits the same table hole.
Haven't decided on intentions for the smaller Triton.

Don't mean to hijack here Rod, but do you have that Triton plunge drill?
I'm not sure what purpose that serves.

Only teasing - mine gets a vacuum then a shot of air to make sure!

Haven't drilled the extra hole yet, seems little point as I'll use the big boy in the tables and anyway, it's so easy to adjust using the micro. Even if I did use it, I'd still engage the lock afterwards.

From what Brian says above, looks like I was right about the push-button and winder going on to the big 'un.
