    Ridgid Shop Vac lifetime warranty

So I picked up a new shop vac from HD a couple of weeks ago thanks to the $40.00 gift card rebate that was posted in the bargain alerts. If I remember correctly these shop vacs are suppose to carry a lifetime warranty. How do you register for the lifetime warranty. I went to my Ridigd e-box to register it but the the shop vacs are not listed as one of the choices you can register for the LSA. How did you guys do it?

    Thanks.

The shop vacs are not covered under the Limited Lifetime Service Agreement. I'm pretty sure that products that are still made by Emerson/Ridge Tool, such as the shop vacs, MSUV, plumbing tools, etc., are only covered by Ridgids standard 3 year warranty. The products that are covered by the LLSA are those tools that are licensed to carry the RIDGID name but are actually made by TTI/OWT.

That's strange. I remember distinctly that there was a sign over the shop vacs as well as in the description on the display saying they're covered under the lifetime warranty. That was the reason I passed on the pro model.

I saw a Ridgid shop vac in the weekly flyer a couple of weeks ago, I thought it had the LLSA logo next to it. Hmmm I would have bet the shop vacs were included. Did you try calling 1-866-539-1710, the number listed on/in the LLSA.

Their website shows the lifetime warranty logon on pages for their vacs and it was even printed on the box of the six gallon model that I got for $19 after gift card mail in deal. The link below is to the website for shopvacs. In any event I am very impressed with the quality and performance of the little six gallon one I got and it fits my needs perfectly. --- Steve

Okay I think I got it figured out. After talking with Ridgid customer service the vacs do have a life time warranty and there is no need to register it on their website like the other Ridgid tools. They say it's automatically in effect.

Is this a case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing? There was a post on the Ridgid site on 6/20/06 dealing with this question. A response by ProBrand a moderator of the website and employee at RIDGID posted "The RIDGID wet/dry vacs are not covered under the LLSA".

I hope he's incorrect and I'm sorry if I mislead anyone.

I think we're confused with the difference between "Lifetime Service Agreement" and "Lifetime Warranty".

The power tools which are made by TTI (under license from Ridgid/Emerson Electric), have a 3-year warranty against defects in workmanship, etc. This is the typical "Quality" warranty that most manufacturers state for whatever period of time they care to stand behind thier products.

But the exception here is that, in addition, you will be covered by a "Limited Lifetime Service Agreement", IF you register the tool. This "Agreement" covers just about everything, including motors, brushes, bearings, chargers and even batteries! In other words, it covers "wear and tear" components. But, you have to register the tool and this is a "Service Agreement", not a warranty.

The shop vacs are not made by TTI. They are made by Ridgid/Emerson Electric and they have a "Lifetime Warranty" that covers defects in material and workmanship. Unfortunately if you read this warranty, it leaves quite a few "outs" for Ridgid, like wear and tear, abuse, etc. I've heard they are pretty lenient about this however.

In any case, that is the difference.... power tools have a 3-year quality warranty and shop vacs have a lifetime quality warranty. Power tools have a "lifetime service agreement" which covers wear and tear, IF you register the tool. Shop vacs have no coverage for wear and tear.

                I hope this helps,
