    Hand planes?

As my projects have become more complicated and my abilities have improved (IMHO) my hand planes are becoming more of a detrament than a help. My question is: Lie Nielsen or Veratas? Or is there something out there in the same price range that I have overlooked. Lie Nielsen looks like reworked and slightly improved Stanley where as Veratas looks like they have done something to improve the original idea. Any input as to the best value is greatly needed here. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

While I have never purchased the Lie Nielson tools, I did purchase the Veritas. I found them to be a good value, as I was buying many tools. The performance has been exceptional and feel no need to try another product or pay any more for my tools. I think you will be happy with either purchase but Veritas has earned my dollars in the future.

Reading the reviews they both seem to do pretty well. Guess it depends on if you like the different designs.
