    RIDGID tools via Amazon...

    Hi all,

Rigid tools seem to be available thru others via Amazon now...
Unsure if this is a new development or something old. I got an email from Amazon, exclusively talking about Ridgid tools...

Could this be a way for Rigid (and parent org's) tools to find a new outlet, other than just HD ;?).. If so, that may explain the recent push at HD to push Ryobi tools/sets...

Food (tools ;-) for thought !

If you look at the site, they are all factory reconditioned power tools being offered.
Nothing new there I wouldn't think.
That said, it may be a way for Ridgid to justify dropping the exclusive arrangement with HD eventually.

I think if you reread the email, you'll find that apparently Amazon has struck some sort of deal with Cummins Tool to sell thru the Amazon site (much like has been done with Grizzly). Cummins has never impressed me much to begin with, and I can only imagine it'll be less if they're selling through Amazon.
If it ain't broke.. don't fix it!!!... but you can always 'hop it up'

What's wrong with Cummins? Never been there but there is one sort of local to me, sounds like I should skip the trip?
        Never met a bargain I didn't like.

According to Ridgid (about 1 month ago) the Limited Lifetime Warranty is ONLY valid for NEW tools purchased thru Homedepot.

            No reconditioned tools from anywhere.
No new tools from anyone BUT Homedepot.

Just thought I would throw that out if anyone was wondering. Since it doesn't really say oneway or another when you read the agreement.

Not quite true that Ridgid will only offer the Limited Lifetime Service Agreement on tools purchased from Home Depot. They will also offer it on new tools purchased from authorized Ridgid distributors such as plumbing, heating or electrical supply houses.

So does that mean Lifetime Warranty will apply to a pipe threading machine and such equipment...I think not likely

No, it means that any tool that is sold by one of these authorized Ridgid distributors that qualifies for the Limited Lifetime Service Agreement will be covered. These distributors are also allowed to sell such Ridgid tools as the TS, Jointer, Planer, Cordless Tools, Corded Tools, etc. BTW, it's not a Lifetime Warranty, Ridgid's standard warranty remains at 3 years for mfg. defects. Warranty and Limited Lifetime Service Agreement are two seperate programs. The warranty is automatic but you must sign up for the LLSA.

I also think "not likely", but that's true regardless of where you purchase it. It also won't apply to a pipe threading machine (or any other non-Ridigid item) purchased from HD.

                    Maybe I misunderstood your question.
