I can't imagine having a cordless CMS.
I bet it's not a big seller and that the brainiak that let this one get to market was fired.
HMMM...maybe he was the guy keeping the BT3 in the line-up and so when he got fired they decided to can everything he did.

Mind you, being the power tool geek that I am becoming (have become?) if I owned Ryobi +One system, I'd likely buy the darn thing. Wonder if Sears ever had it in their C3 line-up...Nevermind, No, stop thinking about it Brian.

Dad has one, and they are a surprisingly handy little item believe it or not. He got his with the big Ryobi kit that they were selling before the kit that included the cordless chainsaw in a bag .... I think the chainsaw is what got that guy fired

When I first saw the Ryobi cordless CMS in HD, I too thought it seemed silly and attributed it to Ryobi gimmickry marketing. But now I see that Bosch and Makita have them as well.

I was talking with a contractor friend last weekend who he mentioned he had one (Makita). He says he loves it for the jobsite.

But I agree that it doesn't seem practical for a home shop.

I do a little handy work outside of my house and I first tried taking my 12" SCMS on the Ridgid MSUV a couple of times - don't ask why I opted to get the Ryobi cordless!

I too got one as part of the 18 Volt Ryobi "Six Pack" 1)Miter Saw, 2) Flashlight, 3) Circular Saw, 4) Zip Saw, 5) Drill, 6) Reciprocating Saw.

After they were included in the Six Pack they became part of a 18V Miter Saw/Drill combo. Then they disappeared for a few years and returned last year as a stand alone item for $99 w/o batteries. They were then discounted to $39 and have since vanished again...perhaps making way for the new 10" cordless Ryobi slider???

During their first abscence they commanded big money on EBay and I was almost tempted to sell mine but the thing comes in quite handy for those "on-site" applications where you don't want to lug the big guns. In fact, I just used mine to cut a slew of PVC pipe for a sprinkler system I put in last week...goes through it like butter w/o any extension cords or the backache associated with bringing the DeWalt double bevel up from the basement. It's also great for cutting door and window casings and will go through 2" X 4" pretty easily on a full charge, albiet slower than any corded model.

You know, I bet the Ryobi one+ system would sell better if they offered Li-Io batteries as an acessory

My FIL has this in his Ryobi 18V assortment. I used it extensively when I borrowed it for 4 months I loved it, and would jump at the right opportunity if it came up (aka my FIL letting me borrow it again long term)
