    sanding on tablesaw and bandsaw

Has anyone tried sanding outside curves on the tablesaw using one of these 10" sanding disc:

Will this damage the tablesaw over time? I don't do too many curve pieces, so won't be doing this too often. I have a Delta 36-675? contractor tablesaw that was on clearance at HD a year ago.

I also got a sanding belt for my HF bandsaw, but haven't used it yet.

Can this be used for outside and inside curves? Is this also bad for the bandsaw?

    thanks for any advice

I previously used the sanding disk on a Craftsman table saw w/o problems. The first time I tried it on the BT3K I noticed the BT3K spins too fast. Popeye just started another thread and discovered that a router speed control allows you to slow the unit down enough to use the sanding disk.

    Thanks,
    Phil

I've used a 10" disk on the Bt once. It went through the wood VERY quickly. A light hand was required to prevent burning and other wise messing up the piece. The piece I was doing was fairly large, so the BT's table was a plus.

You might want to consider a speed control
Here's another thread talking about disc sanding on the BT3K

          David,

I purchased a BTS10 saw and mounted a 10" disk on it just for sanding, it works fine only a little too fast, needs a speed control. You can order different grits of paper for the disk.

I used a sanding disk on my BT3100 Sunday night. Worked nicely. It does take a light touch.
