    Bosch Jigsaw Edge Guide

Anybody have the edge guide for the Bosch Jigsaws? I'm trying to get one for my 1590 but can't seem to find one locally (HD, Lowes etc..)...or on-line for that matter.

Why they can't include a $4 edge guide with a $160 jigsaw just rubs me the wrong way.

    TIA,
    Greg

Sears has one that works with their Bosch clone. They are clearing out the Bosch clone, so you may be able to get the guide cheap . . . . or it may not be there having been cleared out?

Greg, I'm curious as to why you want one?

I realize that they're two different tools but years ago when I bought my circular saw I also purchased an edge guide for it. At the time, I fugured it would be handy and a good thing to have. I have yet to use it once in all those years.

I have one, but haven't had the need for it yet.

The main reason I got it was to use as a circle cutter. And I only bought it when I did because Amazon was having a deal with a minimum purchase and the guide got me over the minimum.

As a edge guide, I would be more likely to use a straight edge as a fence.

Amazon has it. When I got mine I think it was just under $10. Now it is near $20 [maybe because they only have one left?]. If you check Amazon often you will probably see it drop down again. The second link shows a Google search link for it that shows other sellers. -- Steve

            Jeff,

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll check Sears.

              Dave,

It just seems to be one of those situations. I'm building a fireplace mantel and surround. After deciding on how I wanted the columns (uprights supporting the mantel shelf) and after building the carcass, the wife decides to change the face of the columns a tad .

Bottem line, she's looking for a "recessed look" to the column so I have to cut out the center lenght (3" X 4') of a 6" X 4'.5" wide board. Then the inside edges will be given a decorative edge with the router. Not a cut for the circular or table saw but an ideal cut for the sabre saw. Unfortunately, the piece is just too narrow to accomodate clamping a straight edge and the jigsaw comfortably. If I can't find the edge guide, I'll just free hand it and clean up the inside edges with a straight bit and the edge guide on my router before hitting it with the ogee bit.

Steve, Thanks for the link. Ouch! $20 for what probably will be a one time use is a little too steep for me. But we'll throw it in our cart anyway to see if it drops.

              Regards,
              Greg
