Lowes

Maybe I'm just in a bad location (Arkansas), but I've read many posts here and on other forum sites that relate to great deals on tools at Lowes. I have two Lowes within 15 minutes of my house - I try to frequent them in order to hit some of these deals and clearances, but to no avail.

The deals I'm talking about are primarily clearance items. Most folks talk about clearance areas in their respective Lowes stores that have clearance tables with great deals on power tools - like band saws and thickness planers. One guy mentioned he got a Delta thickness planer for like $85 and the Delta 10" band saw with stand (BS150LS) for less than $100.

Maybe these were old posts, but the one that gets me is that many said Lowes cleared out the BS150LS last year for $129, but I've noticed that they still have it on their website and in the local stores for $199.

Is this just a regional thing that I'm missing out on?

I think it's all at the managers discretion. While I do not see the clearance items first hand I have gotten the manager on duty to match prices on non-stock items with copies of receipts that others have posted here. I usually try to find a receipt that is fairly recent and from an adjacent state or the same state. Usually they try to tell me that they do not match other Lowe's prices but when I mention that the item is supposed to be non-stock, they check, it is, they usually match.

If you go and try it enough you will probably find that some managers are easier to deal with than others, avoid the hardcore ones and go during the hours when they aren't there. They usually have it posted on the wall which manager is on duty.

Almost never a "clearance area" at my one Lowe's either. Darn.
