Question about the Bosch router above table height adjustment

I noticed that you cannot adjust the height of the bit from above the table unless you first unlock the motor from the base. Are you suppose to reach down unlock the motor then adjust the height from above the table then reach back down and lock the base again? If that's the case then I don't see much use for the above table adjustment feature on this router. Then again I can be totally confused. Can someone please clarify this for me?

    Thanks.

Yes, you do have to reqach under to unlock the motor. this is pretty common with add-on bases like this that are really a lower-cost compromise to a real lift plate mechanism.
If you position the base right, making the motor locking buckle easily accessible, loosening and locking the motor is not a big deal. i used one of these bases in an add-on table for a worksite saw (Bosch) and wound up re-drilling the table piece to turn the base to bring the locking lever to the side where it was easier to reach, especially without having to bend down a nd look under the table.
It's not as nifty as a real lift plate but there is a money difference as well.

Yeah, I think the Bosch is the closest to lift quality I've seen though. You do have to unlock and relock the base, but it doesn't seem to move around when locking like the PC and others tend to do.
