How do these router lifts compare ?

Hi all,

How would you compare these two:

• Rousseau 3002 Router Lift LS ($135),

• Woodpecker Plungelift Router Lift ($170-$20off=150)

Looks like the latter may be a better deal for Bosch rtrs ?
Thoughts anyone ?

I have the Rousseau and like it but I have never used the other lift. It might depend on what router you are going to put in it. I have the Rousseau with the 1 3/4 hp PC in it, If I was going to hang a large router I might rather have the Woodpecker's with the aluminum plate.

The Rousseau you picture is for the 2 1/4hp Porter Cable, Dewalts and Bosch.

The Woodpecker Plunge lift is only available for the larger brothers of those models plus a few others (like the M12v pictured). These are model specific.

Do what I did and buy one of each.

The Woodpecker lift has an aluminum plate which apparently can handle the weight of these large plungers with their bigger motors, housing, handles, and springs all intact. With the rouseau, you mount just the motor which is samller and lighter to begin with, thus the plate that comes with it should be more than satisfactory....it gets good reviews unlike the other rouseau plate that has the built in crest.

The Rousseau appears identical to the JessEm lift which sells for $235...I mean visually, their identical so not a bad deal at $135 IMHO.

So basically it comes down to what type of router you have.

I have the Jessem and if it were me in this case, I would go with the Rousseau. It looks identical to my Jessem. Fits any 3" diameter motor (I think that's the right number).

I have the Woodpecker plunge lift with a heavy M12V and even though it works well, it could be smoother. Looking at the other one I can see it has two lift points which I'm sure helps with it moving up and down.

Unfortunately, the Rousseau isn't available for the Hitachi M12V...only the smaller 2 1/4 motors.

Besides the Woodpeckers Plunge lift and a Router Raizor, I don't know if their are others that can accomodate the M12V. Anybody have any experience with other lifts for their Hitachi M12V besides the Woodpecker models? Now I'm curious.

I have the Rockler version of the Jessem. I use a DeWalt 618 motor with it. I'm very happy with the combination. I guess I would have also preferred an aluminum plate, but the Rockler was on sale and was right there at my local Rockler store.

Have not regretted it at all.
