    Yet another planer question

OK, I didn't move fast enough last time and my BORG ran out of the Ryobi 1300. Now I see that Amazon has deals on Delta TP400LS Shopmaster 12-1/2" Planer with Stand for $233.79 plus $28.76 for the dust collector chute or the DEWALT DW734 for $265.30.

Between these two, which do you like. Of course, now that I've gone through my current toy budget, I'll have to get the LOML to sign off on me dipping into general funds for it. But that's another story.

Disclaimer: I own a Delta 22-580, and have no experience with either of the two you list.

That said, of those two, at those prices ... absolutely the DeWalt. Shopmaster is Delta's entry-level line. The Shopmaster stuff is okay, but the Delta Industrial models are much better. By comparison the DeWalt is a more pro-quality tool that usually sells for around $380.

Just adding to what Larry said, keep in mind that DeWalt has a 3 knife cutter head that should give you smoother cuts.

I don't have any of them either but did work with the older version of DeWalt in the past. I have a Ridgid.

Dewally! It's a great planer, 3 blades are better than 2. Especially when it's time to change them...[]

CRY ONCE BUY ONCE on this one..

I own a DW733. It's HEAVY so I hope you have a good back or a permenant spot for it.

At the slight difference in price, going for the DeWalt is a no brainer.
