Is there a good cheap finish nailer?

I know people rave about the harbor Freight $15 brad nailer, is there something similar in a finish nailer? Or are they just naturally a lot lot more money?

All the ones I've found are always more money.
The best deal I've seen is here.

The link is for pin nailer. A finish nailer is either 15 gauge or 16 gauge. I can't vouch for the quality but HF has a 15 gauge nailer for around $100 when it is on sale.

I think in the past I've seen it on sale for around $80. If you can time it right and also have a current 20% off coupon that puts it around $64. IIRC, silverfox has one and said he likes it.

          HF Finish nailer

I had one for about two hours. That includes 40 minutes of drive time, 10 min to install an air fitting, and 70 minutes of testing and clearing jams each time it fired.

Then I bit the bullet and bought a PC. Haven't had any jams..
          Cut twice.... measure??

Thanks I was hoping there was a way to avoid the PC pancake package for those of us just starting out, but the prices on those guns make the PC package a must buy.

They have their newer 16ga finish nailer on sale for $73 and the older discontinued one for $40 that can only shoot up to 2 inch nails which can be a concern particularly for crown molding where you may shoot the nail at an angle that goes through the molding. through some space behind it, through the drywall, and finally into a stud [hopefully].

However at least the new model is not near the deal that their 18 ga is compared to other premium name brands. You can currently buy a 15 ga reconditioned Porter Cable angle finish nailer from Toolking for $99 with full manufacturer warranty. That is a known quality unit and reconditioned units almost always look like or very close to new. I have the PC 16ga finish nailer and it works wonderfully. I got it and their 18ga brad nailer as a combo kit with the pancake compressor. --- Steve

                cheap finish nailer

                Aloha,

Home Depot has a PC finish nailer combo on sale regularly. Here in Hawaii, they offer a one time only if you open a commercial revolving charge account, they give you a 50% off on your first purchase of ANY power tool or a combination of power tools up to a total of $300.00 total discount on your first charge. I got my PC finish nailer set with pancake compressor for $155.00 out the door. It included a finish nailer, brad nailer, crown stapler, pancake compressor, 25' hose and regulator. One of the best deals with a name brand nailer. I have not had any problems with the nail guns or compressor. I want to kick myself for not purchasing a surface planer at that time.

I use my finish nailer constantly. I knew this was going to be the case so I bought what I thought was the best, the 15 ga. PC. I haven't regretted it at all. The thing has never failed to shoot perfectly. That's not counting the few times I've failed to aim it perfectly....

I agree with those who recommend the 15 Gauge PC nailer from Toolking ($108 to my door). Why, I just bought one myself...

One thing to keep in mind with a nailer is looking a bit beyond the initial cost. The PC may be a few bucks more than the HF model, but in additon to the quality associated with the PC name, I guarantee you it will be easier to find replacement parts for the PC a few years down the road (such as if the seals blow). I try to think of long-term expense rather than just initial purchase price when buying tools.

Very much agreed. Bought one a couple years ago with Finish, Brad and Crown at HD on a very good sale. I used HF framing nailer to build a playhouse this month and it performed very well.
