I just unpacked and assembled the craftsman jointer 21706. In the packaging it came with a small brass lock and two keys. Anyone know what this is for?

Chris, did you have any problems setting the postive stops to make the fence 90 degrees. The bolts for the bottom of the fench stops aren't big enough to hit the fence.Last edited by ryan.s; 04-27-2006, 12:40 AM.Comment

I think there is a hole through the sides of the on button. The lock slides through the button and prevents anyone from pressing it to turn it on. I don't have the jointer in front of me so i'm just going on memory (which isn't perfect).Originally posted by ryan.sEricComment

Thanks guys, yes there is a hole through the start button. Did any of you guys have problems setting the positive stops. After re-reading the manual it appears only two of the bolts on top are designed for the 90 degree stop but even when those are set when locking the fence down the bottom continues to move. Just index the top of the rail on the two top bolts and tighten the lock. Once the lock is tightened, the fence will *not* move.
The two index bolts on the bottom are for a reverse 45% setting.
